NEWS · MIDA Panorama: a Collection of Top Docs
 

50 documentaries of best quality will be shown during MIDA Panorama between 9th June and 15th June in 4 top cinemas in Shanghai city centre.

MIDA Panorama is an essential part of MIDA (Magnolia International Documentary Awards). It is co-organized by STVF and SMG Documentary Channel. It was previously known as "DocuChina Panorama", which was launched by SMG Documentary Channel in 2006 as a way to nurture the idea of high quality culture and create the new lifestyle of "Seeing a documentary film in cinema."

In 2010, as one of the most important and biggest documentary festivals in Asia, MIDA unprecedentedly gathers 50 top documentaries of the world together. MIDA has gained support from five international documentary festivals including IDFA, Hot Docs, DOK Leipzig, Documentary Edge and YIDFF so that the best works from these festivals can be shown.

Documentaries to be shown during MIDA Panorama including acclaimed"The Monastery"; "Forever"; "Born Into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids"; "Yokohama Mary"; "Last Train Home"; "The Fortress"; "Presumed Guilty".

A special tribute will be paid to Ogawa Shinsuke, during which "Summer in Narita"; "Nippon-koku Furuyashiki-mura" will be shown. During "Focus on Asia" segment, outstanding documentaries such as "The Last Rice Farmers"; "Survival Song"; "Old Partner"; "KJ" and "Daughter from Yan'an" will be presented.

About 40% of documentaries of the showcase are Asian premier while documentaries such as "The Bund", presented by SMG and MIDA and "Sign Language Age", sponsored by MIDA Fund will have their world premier during MIDA.

Many documentaries directors will also join the MIDA Panorama and take Q&A session with audience.
